The Luton & District Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club were invited by the Challenge Anneka team. The Luton Breakfast Club was involved on day 1 when 10 of our group plus partners, met Anneka at a special meeting and explained what medals were, why they are important, and gave some suggestions on what any award might be named as (subsequently it was named the Challenge Anneka Medal).

The Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs offers support to veterans, not just a Breakfast Club but outside of the Breakfast Club; which include but not limited to:-

  • A warm and welcoming space
  • Veterans from all branches
  • Fostering camaraderie
  • A network of like-minded comrades

On 27th April 2025 the Gainsborough Armed forces and Veterans Breakfast Club visited the Officer’s mess ant RAF Waddington for a breakfast. The Station Commander and Padre were in attendance along with several other members of the station strength. After the breakfast the breakfast club visited the international Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln. I was the project officer for the visit. All people who attended enjoyed the day and the Station Commander left us with an open invite to return at any time we wanted. We will be taking him up on that!!

Being at the Sleaford AFVBC for nearly 6 plus years we have gone from strength to strength, we now have over 300 members on the Facebook page and continually get 30 plus for breakfast and more for events like the upcoming Trafalgar night. The support from David Williamson and his team in setting up and continuing has been superb. Friendships have been made and sustained and we continue to support veterans, serving, and families in the area. For Veterans by Veterans with unrivalled banter and the food supplied by the Barge and Bottle is excellent.

His Majesty The King Visits Luton

His Majesty The King Visits Luton and speaks to Armed Forces & Veteras Breakfast Club (AFVBC) members, the King walked around the crowd, then went to speak to AFVBC Veterans, he put his hand for a shake and spoke to all who attended.

He said to one Member, “After this, you can go for a nice stiff drink”, Colin and the others just laughed with the King.

The veterans that met the King, were:

Darrel Gregory (SAMA scarf), Allan Olliver (RTR Beret), John Gilmour (RAF Beret next to Allan), Colin Lee (Red Beret REME), Chris Curtis (RAF Beret and full beard), Ken Clasper (Royal Navy), Terry Hennessey (Royal Navy and dark glasses)

Support is not just needed whilst the Breakfast Club is on, Littlehampton AFVBC have gone one step further, The Littlehampton AFVBC has grown rapidly over the past five years, from a smaller social group to now having over 300 members in Littlehampton and the surrounding areas, celebrating five years of the club this summer as well as being awarded the ‘gold standard’ by the Armed Forces Network.  The LAFVBC have managed to get the funds to purchase a community minibus. The minibus will allow the group to extend its outreach within the community, offering transport to the twice-weekly group meetings, as well as for organised day trips.

LiVeS Project

The LiVeS project is the welfare arm of the Littlehampton Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club.

Primary Function

Offer the opportunity for veterans and other members of the military family the opportunity to get together for a brew and a chat.

Welfare Support

Our welfare support is available to all members of the military family and not exclusively for club members.
